Top 5 Social Media Marketing Questions

Social Media is probably one of the cheapest yet efficient options out there to leverage for marketing. Practically everyone is on social media; the challenge will be to get in front of these people and make them talk about your brand. On this read, we take a look at some of the most common questions in social media marketing and how to address them.

1. Are there businesses that don’t need social media? (for example law firms?)

All companies need some social media presence. In fact, when working with law firms like Capita Registrars, we have found that they wanted to use social media not necessarily as a lead capture, but to boost their awareness. For example, if someone looks up on Facebook, and a law firm is posting relevant industry news, they are more likely to believe that the company knows what it’s talking about.

2. How do I get a following when first starting out?

Ads are the easiest and most efficient way to get traffic. However, blogs and PR are the easiest way. We work with a few startups who focused heavy on their content generation and hired a digital marketing agency do the social media. This only made their marketing more efficient. Without the content production, it would have gone nowhere, though.

3. How can I create a professional presence through social media in a time of click-bait and instant gratification posts?

To create a professional presence, you want to post professional and relevant items to your business. If you are a law firm, you want to post articles relating to your company’s specialty and industry. This being said it is harder to get lots of engagement with just articles. We have found a mixture of items that are posted to get engagement (funny memes and bait click) and professional industry related items work well.

4. What should be the aim of different social media platforms?

Facebook is best for use as a primary method of engagement, Twitter feeding into it but used primarily for on the go updates, and LinkedIn for professional networking. Twitter seems to be slowly dying. There are speculations that Google or Yahoo might be buying it so expect some significant changes. Lastly, consider using your personal LinkedIn account to connect to the big players to score meetings.
